THE NEW LATVIAN NATIONAL LIBRARY BUILDING, also named the Castle of Light, has been symbolically chosen as the main meeting venue for the Latvian Presidency’s meetings.
The library has a particular symbolic significance within the context of the digital age – as the symbol of the knowledge accumulated through our historic paths that, in line with changes, continues to serve as an information carrier, a guardian of recollections, and an intermediary for communication, social processes, and the evolving information society. The Latvian National Library meets all of the requirements of a modern conference centre – it has seven conference halls which can simultaneously accommodate up to 1,800 participants.
