As Director of Policy, Teaching and Learning Alexa supports national and regional governments and other education bodies in transforming education and deploying 1:1 device programs in schools across Europe, Middle East and Africa. As part of the Global Digital Learning Strategy team, she helps provide thought leadership and evidence of the impact of ICT in education transformation on teaching and learning in all subject areas.

Alexa was formerly Senior Business Development Manager at European Schoolnet, the network of 30 Ministries of Education in Europe and think tank in use of technology to transform education. At Schoolnet, she worked closely with governments, educators and major companies to bring about transformation in education. She had a particular focus on large-scale EC-funded projects (FP6, FP7 and the Lifelong Learning Program) and multi-stakeholder partnerships, in the fields of ICT in education, science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) education and sustainability education.

Previously she worked at UNESCO Bangkok, coordinating the pilot Southeast Asian Schoolnet, focusing on ICT-based education for learning science, maths and English, capacity building of educators and leaders, and equipping Ministries of Education and schools with ICT infrastructure. She has also consulted for UNESCO International Institute of Educational Planning, Paris, the OECD Centre for Educational Research and Innovation, and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu on topics such as Open Educational Resources and EU education programs.

Alexa was an executive advisor to the Hewlett Packard STEM+ Catalyst global program for education, and an executive committee member of the European Centre for Women and Technology and the European e-Skills Association, and authored white papers for Cisco and Intel. She has a Masters in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford and an MBA from Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, Belgium, and is currently pursuing studies in Education and Technology at the Institute of Education, University College London, UK.
